DC Area Plus Wedding April 30, 2011

Here we are on Easter eve, April 23rd with our colored eggs the weekend before, when Spencer returned from his conference in San Antonio.
Spencer and I were thrilled to hear that a Cafe Rio was opening up in Olney, MD. We got to swing by there after we went to the DC Temple to see my friend, Julia Olson (now Kanouse), get married. It was so special, the ceremony. Our Cafe Rio lunch and then our to-go salad was like a dream! Ok, so if you haven't guessed it by now, we are big fans of good food!

On the way to the reception we drove by Mount Vernon. We got there with only an hour until close and figured it best to come back with more time. The drive on George Washington Parkway along the Potomac was worth it though. All those wonderful and vibrant trees, sailboats and sunshine were calling to us to stay a while in that area. We also stopped off in Alexandria at Heather's favorite cupcakery... Lavender Moon. Spencer chose right when he ordered the buttermilk cupcake with Mexican chocolate pudding.

Our friend Bee works at a Thai restaurant just around the corner, so we surprised her by stopping in to say hello. And she was surprised.

Another excellent place to eat if you are in the District is Good Stuff Eatery. They serve up excellent hamburgers and some very sweet but tasty shakes. It is a short walk from the Capitol Building and the Library of Congress. And Spencer would have me not forget the tasty fries!
